Mountain Communities – Chain controls are still in place on some mountain highways.

CalTrans and the California Highway Patrol report the chain requirements are in place on Highways 138,and 189.

CHAINS ARE REQUIRED ON ALL VEHICLES EXCEPT 4-WHEEL-DRIVE VEHICLES WITH SNOW TIRES ON ALL 4 WHEELS FROM CAMP SEELEY TO THE JUNCTION OF HIGHWAY18

HIGHWAY 173

NO RESTRICTIONS

HIGHWAY 189

CHAINS ARE REQUIRED ON ALL VEHICLES EXCEPT 4-WHEEL-DRIVE VEHICLES WITH SNOW TIRES ON ALL 4 WHEELS FROM THE JUNCTION OF HIGHWAY 18 TO THE JUNCTION OF HIGHWAY 173
