Mountain Communities – Start 2013 off right by recycling your Christmas tree.

Burrtec Waste Management (Mountain Disposal) and Bear Bear Disposal urge residents to recycle their natural trees but have slightly different guidelines. However, residents must remove all ornaments, tinsel, lights, and other NON-Organic decorative materials prior to recycling. This includes tree stands also.

Curbside customers serviced by Burrtec Waste Management (Mountain Disposal) should place their trees next to their waste bins on their regular service day (adjusted if applicable based on the holiday) at no additional cost to them.

Trees exceeding 4-feet in length should be cut in half. Flocked trees are not collected.

DEADLINE: Friday, January 11

Big Bear Disposal does not pick up Christmas trees on residential curbside routes.

However, residents of the City of Big Bear Lake only may take their old trees to Big Bear Disposal’s Recycle Center at 41970 Garstin Drive. There will be  a container available for Christmas trees.

Flocked trees are allowed.

DEADLINE: Monday, January 14
