DWP Rate Hike On Special Meeting Agenda

Big Bear Lake, CA – A DWP rate request will be on the January 14 special meeting agenda.

The meeting — which will be held at Milton W. Hofert Hall at 2 p.m. — will involve the board of commissioners of the Department of Water and Power and the Big Bear City Council. Mayor Jay Obernolte is scheduled to preside over the meeting in the Training Room for a presentation and discussion of the DWP’s proposed rate increase for 2013-2021.

RATE PROPOSAL

Scenario 1 calls for $4 million in new debt in fiscal year 2013-14. Scenario 2 meets minimum debt coverage requirements with no new debt. Scenario 3 shows $3 million in new debt and $9 million in WRDA grants.  Scenario 4 has no rate increase.

Complete details of the rate proposal and four scenarios will be outlined at the meeting.
