Providence, RI – Former Lake Arrowhead resident Michelle Kwan has said “I do.”

The Rim of the World High School graduate and former Olympic skater married White House National Security officer Clay Pell at the First Unitarian Church in Providence, Rhode Island, on Saturday, January 19.

Kwan, 32, and Pell, 31, exchanged vows with several of former Olympians in attendance, including Brian Boitano, Dorothy Hamil and Dick Button. About 250 guests were on hand as Kwan and Pell tied the knot including Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee and his wife, Stephanie.

During her skating days, Kwan won 43 skating championships and currently works for the U.S Department of State as a public policy envoy.

Pell,  the grandson of the late Rhode Island Senator Claiborne Pell, is also a lieutenant in the Coast Guard.

Kwan’s wedding dress, designed by Vera Wang, was made with layers of silk organza and was highlighted with lace appliques. News accounts of the wedding report the dress was an ivory, strapless mermaid gown.

Wang designed many of the ice skating outfits Kwan wore in competitions around the globe and while practicing routines at the Ice Castle International Training Center in Lake Arrowhead.
