Fawnskin, CA – The Big Bear Discovery Center is celebrating Migratory Bird Day on Saturday May 13, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
There will be several activities to celebrate their spring birds and educate visitors on conservation efforts to protect them.
Activities include birdhouse building, pine-cone bird feeders, nature walks, bird walks, and Story Time.
Enjoy bird decorations and art, and find out what bird has the same wingspan as you!
Migratory Bird Day also kicks off the annual silent Auction. Bird themed art and photography are donated by local artists for this event as a fundraiser for the Southern California Mountains Foundation. Bids are accepted until Memorial Day.
The Big Bear Discovery Center is an educational and informational portal to the San Bernardino National Forest and is located within the heart of the Big Bear Valley. A visit to the Discovery Center heightens awareness on how to become a more responsible caretaker of a national forest while increasing enjoyment and knowledge of California’s most visited forestland, the San Bernardino National Forest. Educational programs are offered weekly to visitors.
“We love having visitors join us for a fun and educational day celebrating our feathered friends!” says Wendy Craig, Discovery Center Manager.
