Vegetation Fire at Bottom of Hwy 38, Highland UPDATE 16 – Sunday July, 16, 7:21 a.m.

Update 16 – Sunday, July 16,7:21 a.m.

Forest Service reports that the Bridge Fire is now 70% contained holding at 460 acres.

Update 15 – Saturday, July 15,8:40 p.m.

The Bridge Fire has been upgraded to 460 acres with 40% containment.

Update 14 – Saturday, July 15, 2:49 p.m.

The Bridge Fire is holding at 450 acres and is now 35% contained.  There are 470 firefighters on the fire.

Update 13 – Saturday, July 15, 6:39 a.m.

The Bridge fire stayed at 450 acres overnight. Still 20% contained. Firefighters are making good progress on the fire.

Update 12 – Friday, July 14, 9:37 PM

The forward rate of spread has been stopped, still 20% contained. The fire will be manned overnight, with additional units rotating in on the morning shift.

UPDATE 11 – Friday, July 14, 8:16 p.m.

The Bridge Fire is still at 450 acres with 20% containment

UPDATE 10 – Friday, July 14, 7:50 p.m.

The Bridge Fire is currently at 450 acres with 10% containment.

UPDATE 9 – Friday, July 14, 6:27 p.m.

As of the latest update per scanner the Bridge Fire is still reported at 350 acres, however it has gone from 0% containment to 5% containment.

UPDATE 8 – Friday, July 14, 5:34 p.m.

Big Bear residents please be advised  smoke is visible from the  Bridge Fire. There is no threat to the Big Bear Valley. All roads are open.

UPDATE 7 – Friday, July 14, 5:26 p.m.

Strike team from Santiago and T-911 (VLAT) inbound from Santa Maria.

UPDATE 6 – Friday, July 14, 5:06 p.m.

Bridge Fire is now at 350 acres with 0% containment

UPDATE 5 – Friday, July 14, 4:53 p.m.

Bridge Fire is looking better with an additional air tanker coming in from Porterville, CA. Air tankers are laying a line around the fire.

UPDATE 4 – Friday, July 14, 4:46 p.m.

Bridge Fire is now at 250 acres with 0% containment. Strike team coming from Angeles National and PNF to form a strike team.

UPDATE 3 – Friday, July 14, 4:15 p.m.

Forest Service is shutting down road 1N12.

Making arrangements regarding Mill Creek and other communities up 38.

UPDATE 2 – Friday, July 14, 4:07 p.m.

Bridge Fire is now 200 acres with a rapid rate of spread.

UPDATE 1- Friday, July 14, 3:57 p.m.

Ten additional type 3 and 2 crews have been requested along with Pilot Rock crews.

 

ORIGINAL STORY

Highland, CA – The Bridge Fire started about 2:35 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 at the bottom of Hwy 38 in Highland.

The fire is now 2nd Alarm: plus 5 additional engines, 2 crews, 4 water tenders, 1 dozer, 1 air tanker.

Bridge Fire is 30+ acres with a rapid rate of spread, moving east-north east.
