Sacramento, CA – Senator Mike Morrell (R-Rancho Cucamonga/23) has been chosen as 2016 Legislator of the Year by the Military Officers Association of America’s California Council of Chapters (Cal-MOAA).
IMPROVE THE LIVES OF VETERANS
In 2016, Morrell authored Senate Bill 1155, the Welcome Home Act, which would eliminate initial fees required to obtain an occupational license for honorably discharged veterans residing in California.
Morrell also sponsors the Patriots of the Past, Present and Future Recognition Ceremony in his district.
INVOLVED IN VETERANS ACTIVITIES
“Senator Morrell is actively involved in the veterans’ events and activities in his home district,” Colonel Lorna Griess, USA-Retired, said in a prepared media release. “He brings a thoughtful and solid approach on how to help today’s veterans to the legislature.”
Previously, Morrell authored legislation to offer resident classification for veterans attending state colleges, and to stiffen penalties for vandalism of Veterans Memorials.
Senator Morrell’s district includes the mountain communities.
