Mountain Communities – Rebuilding Together Mountain Communities is currently seeking sponsorship and donations to assist with its Rebuilding Day 2017 efforts.
The purpose of Rebuilding Together Mountain Communities is to provide home repair and maintenance service to low-income elderly and/or disabled homeowners, free of charge. In 2016, the organization successfully refurbished the homes of eight mountain residents.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE ON THE MOUNTAIN
The efforts of Rebuilding Together are supported by individual contributions of money, time and materials.
Local businesses, community service organizations, private individuals, corporations, churches and foundations make it possible for local residents to come together on a single day and help their neighbors in the American “barn-raising” tradition!
House sponsorships are available for $1,500 and all donors are featured prominently on signage on Rebuilding Day. Sponsorships makes possible the paint, roofing materials, tools, and volunteers necessary to make Rebuilding Day a success.
Currently, the Rebuilding Together Home Selection Committee is evaluating twenty-one homes for refurbishing on April 29, 2017. Those homeowners will be notified in January regarding the committee’s decision.
The Rebuilding Together Home Selection Team selects homes based on income, length of home ownership, disability, age, and the complexity of the project, etc. Recipients must be elderly and/or disabled homeowners who cannot complete the work themselves due to age, disability, or limited income.
Rebuilding Together was created in 1994, at which time it was called Christmas in April Mountain Communities. In 2005, Christmas in April adopted its new official name, Rebuilding Together, in response to a directive from the national organization headquartered in Washington, D.C.
