Washington, D.C. – The 115th Congress is now in session and Congressman Paul Cook (R-Yucca Valley/8) has begun his third term representing the mountain communities in Washington, D.C.
Cook — who had his oath of office administered by House Speaker Paul Ryan — is one of 241 Republicans and 194 Democrats. The Class of 2017 includes 52 freshmen.
“I’m honored and humbled to be part of the 115th Congress,” Cook told ROTWNEWS.com, “and I look forward to continuing to represent California’s 8th District.”
During the reorganization of the House, Ryan (R-Wisconsin/1) was elected Speaker of the House receiving 239 votes and Nancy Pelosi (D-California) 189.
“We’ve got our work cut out for us,” Ryan told members of the House following the vote for speaker. “As your speaker, I intend to keep this place running at full speed.”
