Ontario, CA – Mountain residents planning on utilizing Ontario International Airport need to be aware that the facility is on heightened alert after a gunman opened fire at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. That incident resulted in five persons being killed and at least eight wounded. The suspected gunman is in custody.
The heighted alert status at the airport — involving Ontario Airport Police, the Ontario Police Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) — began shortly after the incident was reported in Fort Lauderdale.
The latest information from Ontario Airport is that there has been no impact to departing flights.
In addition, the airport’s website reports that Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport in conjunction with law enforcement agencies.
