Big Bear Lake, CA – Three residents of the Bear Valley Unified School District have submitted applications to replace Paul Zamoyta on the district’s Board of Trustees. The individual appointed will serve out Zamoyta’s term that expires in December 2018.
Trustees Dr. Stephen Foulkes, Cathy Herrick, John Goepp and Beverly Grabe will review the applicants, interview qualified individuals and are tentatively scheduled to appoint Zamoyta’s replacement on Wednesday, February 1.
Zamoyta, who had served on the board since 2008 and was re-elected in November 2016, resigned effective September 29 of last year. However, his name appeared on the November ballot and he declined to take the oath of office once the results were certified creating the vacancy.
STEPS TO APPOINTMENT
On Thursday, January 12, a committee of less than a quorum of the board will meet to ensure the three applicants are eligible for board membership and the names of eligible candidates will be announced.
At the February 1 Regular Board Meeting, candidates will be interviewed, public comment and input will be welcome, and the appointee will be selected by a majority vote, District Board Secretary Shelley Black told ROTWNEWS.com.
