STORM ALERT: 107 MPH Wind Gust Reported In Burns Canyon

Mountain Communities – The National Weather Service is reporting strong wind gusts in the San Bernardino Mountains overnight including a 107 mile per hour gust in Burns Canyon  at teh 6,284-foot level between Big Bear City and Yucca Valley.

natl-weather-srvThe NWS Information Statement reports the gust was logged at 12:51 a.m. this morning and described it as an isolated incident due to a surfacing mountain wave.


The NWS reported 49 mile per hour gusts in Big Bear Lake and 47 mph at Big Bear Airport.

Running Springs also had gusts to 47 mph, Fawnskin 40 mph and Lake Arrowhead 35 mph, according to the NWS.
