Big Bear, CA – Bear Valley Electric is reporting power has been restored to its customers in Bear Valley.
The power was restored just before noon.
UPDATE 10: Friday, January 13 – 11:11 a.m.
Big Bear, CA – The estimated time to restore power is 1 to 2 p.m., according to the latest post by Bear Valley Electric.
UPDATE 9: Friday, January 13 – 10:01 a.m.
Big Bear, CA – Bear Valley Electric is now estimating restoration of power in Bear Valley will be 11:30 a.m. due to necessary repairs to the Southern California Edison feed from Lucerne Valley.
UPDATE 8: Friday, January 13 – 9:01 a.m.
Big Bear, CA – The latest estimate is that power to most areas of Bear Valley should be restored by 10:30 – 11 a.m.
Edison crews are working near Angelus Oaks along with working to restore the utility’s power feed from the Lucerne Valley.
UPDATE 7: Friday, January 13 – 8:22 a.m.
Big Bear, CA – Bear Valley Electric has just posted the following related to the power outage:
Power is out in the entire Bear Valley area. The problem has been isolated to the SCE supply line at Goldhill. SCE crews are responding to the fault.
The estimated time to restore power is 10:30 am.

Angelus Oaks, CA – Caltrans is reporting Highway 38 has been cleared and is now open to traffic in both directions.
UPDATE 5: Friday, January 13 – 7:44 a.m.
Angelus Oaks, CA – The Southern California Edison Outage Center is reporting power to most Edison customers should be restored by 11 a.m.
Edison is showing about 140 customers without power. However, the outage is also impacting Bear Valley Electric customers throughout Bear Valley.
UPDATE 4: Friday, January 13 – 7:21 a.m.
Big Bear, CA – Bear Valley Electric has issued the following advisory regarding the widespread power outage:
Power is out in the Bear Valley area. Switches between BVES system and SCE system have opened due to an unknown fault. BVES and SCE crews are investigating for the fault. The estimated time to restore power is unknown at this time.
Customers should report outages and downed lines by calling 800-808-2837 and stay clear to ensure safety. When reporting an outage, please be sure to provide your contact information.
UPDATE 3: Friday, January 13 – 5:51 a.m.
Angelus Oaks, CA – The California Highway Patrol is reporting the closure of Highway 38 “will be a long closure due to multiple lines down.” The CHP also indicates that lines are wrapped around a snowplow that was working in the area.
Caltrans has shut down the roadway and is advising motorists to utilize alternate routes.
Emergency personnel are reporting the lines have now been de-energized.
UPDATE 2: Friday, January 13 – 5:18 a.m.
Big Bear, CA – Caltrans is advising motorists to utilize an alternate route during the closure of Highway 38 due to downed power lines.
The closure is from 6.9 miles east of Redlands to 3.5 miles west of the junction of Highway 18, according to Caltrans.
UPDATE: Friday, January 13 – 5:50 a.m.
Big Bear, CA – Caltrans is reporting that Highway 38 at Sugar Pine Circle (Angelus Oaks) is closed in both directions due to a downed power line.
Caltrans does not provide a time frame to reopen the ro0adway.
Big Bear, CA – A power outage — reported at 3:36 a.m. — is impacting customers in Big Bear Lake, Big Bear City, Fawnskin and Sugarloaf.
Utility crews have been notified.
However, the outage area of Bear Valley Electric and Southern California Edison’s websites are not showing any data as to the cause of the outage, number of customers without power, time of restoration, etc.
