Lake Arrowhead, CA – Over 3.2 million school-age children are victims of bullying each year. Suicide, as a result of bullying, has become the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, according to Atlanta’s Center for Disease Control.

rim-comm-for-youthThe Rim Communities for Youth Coalition continues their community nights with a special presentation addressing the issue of bullying on the mountain.

“Building a Culture of Empathy: A Parents’ Guide to Bullying” Teresa Raef, a Social Skills Expert, and Brandon Reyes, a former Rim of the World student who will share the grim realities bullying has had on his life.


The “Community Night” event takes place at 6 p.m. on Monday, January 30 in the Performing Arts Center of Rim of the World High School. The event is free to the public. Refreshments will be available for purchase. All proceeds go towards behavior programs such as the Club Live chapters within the Rim of the World School District.

Many parents are unsure how to respond to their child being bullied. This presentation will offer parents and students behavior options that can help prevent these social problems.

Teresa Raef is a past recipient of the San Bernardino Rotary’s Duncan Web Character Education Award and has been a keynote speaker the Southern Region Student Wellness Conference.
