City of Big Bear Lake – Residents who are hoping to get involved and make a difference will have their chance, when seats become available on the Planning Commission and Department Of Water And Power (DWP) Board Of Commissioners, this coming June. The Planning Commission will have three possible positions to fill, and there will be two possible openings on the DWP board, when current member terms expire on June 30.
The Planning Commission position requires attendance at the group’s regular meetings on the first and third Wednesday of each month, at 1:15 p.m.. The Commission is responsible for decisions related to land use issues such as the General Plan, zoning, development and environmental ordinances.
The DWP position requires attendance at the regular Board meetings on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the DWP offices. The Board makes decisions related to water conservation, supply, generation, distribution and sale of water and related services.
Applicants for the Planning Commission must be full-time residents and a registered voter in the City of Big Bear Lake. DWP applicants must be registered voters and reside in an area served by the DWP.
Applications for both positions are available at the City Clerk’s office in City Hall, located at 39707 Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear Lake, or online at www.citybigbearlake.com. The deadline to submit an application for a position with either agency is Friday, April 21, 2017, at 5:00 p.m.
