Maintenance Begins in May on State Route 18

By Susan A. Neufeld

Mountain Communities – Caltrans expects to begin preventative maintenance repairs, in various locations on Hwy 18 (SR18), in May.  The preventative rehabilitation project is part of the $2.3 million project that began last year.

The work is expected to begin in early May: possibly the second week. Flagging will be necessary during the work hours, which will be Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No work will take place on Friday or on the weekends. The work is dependent on the weather and is expected to last until late June.

Caltrans expects delays during the flagging operation and will have Caltrans staff and CHP to monitor traffic and minimize delays to the motoring public and community.

Please plan ahead , add extra time to your commute, and consider alternate routes to avoid the work.  Know before you go!
