Happy Hills Trail Opening and National Trails Day 2017

Big Bear Lake, CA – The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting event for the new Happy Hills Trail on June 2, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.  The ribbon cutting will be at the Happy Hills trail head, located at Big Bear Lake City Hall; 39797 Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear Lake, CA.

Bring the entire family and walking shoes to help celebrate the opening of this new trail. Big Bear’s trail systems continue to improve at an amazing rate because of the commitment of the City’s dedicated community members. Please join us to celebrate, what we hope will be, the first of many new trail openings.

“This is a wonderful addition to the Bear Valley’s trail system and highlights the City of Big Bear Lake’s leadership in creating and implementing the non-motorized trail plan. Additions like this to  Big Bear’s provides amazing opportunities to create healthier communities and works to connect both visitors and residents to the natural wonders of this valley,”  said Bennett Rossell, Southern California Mountains Foundation’s Non-Motorized Trails Coordinator.


On June 3, 2017 join us  for the 8th annual National Trails Day event, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.. Volunteers will meet at the Aspen Glen Picnic Area at 9:00 a.m., and work on the popular hiking and mountain biking trail, Cabin 89, the Aspen Glen Picnic Area is located at 40105 Mill Creek Rd. on the South Shore of Big Bear Lake. Trail work will focus on a steep sections of the trail to make it more sustainable, user friendly, and fun, as well as performing maintenance throughout the trail.

Registered participants will be provided with a free BBQ lunch at the Aspen Glen Picnic area from 12:00 noon – 1 p.m.. Space is limited so register now for this free event to secure your place on the trail and a free t-shirt, courtesy of our phenomenal partner, REI.
