Vegetation Fire Hwy 330 at 1N09 (City Creek) – Update 12, Monday, July 24, 11:33 a.m.

UPDATE 12- Monday, July 24, 11:33 a.m.

Firefighters are making good progress on the Dollar Fire. The fire is currently holding with in the contained perimeter. The fire is 70% contained and the size has been reduced to 50 acres.

Thank you to our firefighters that help keep the mountain safe.

UPDATE 11- Sunday, July 23, 12:28 a.m.

Firefighters have made good progress and are down for night operations. The line construction has brought containment to 40% and is at 85 acres. They got a good handle on it late today. Units are on it over night and orders are already in for the units and Air Attack who will be on it at 7 a.m. tomorrow. The fire is currently holding in the retardant lines. There are no evacuations at this time. According to Caltrans, Hwy 330 is open for travel; however, please be cautious as fire equipment and personnel may be working along the highway. Please be vigilant and be prepared to leave should the need arise. Please follow directions if asked to leave.

Hope the morning will bring us news of a steady containment.


UPDATE 10-Saturday, July 22, 7:17 p.m.

The Dollar Fire is at 85 acres and 40% contained.

UPDATE 9-Saturday, July 22, 5:20 p.m.

Crews now have about 50% of the Dollar fire surrounded.

Resource order for tomorrow, Sunday, July 23, are 2 helos, 2 type strike teams and 4 type one crews, for 0700 Station 38.

UPDATE 8-Saturday, July 22, 4:45 p.m.

Firefighters continue to make major progress on this fire especially the massive air attack. The VLAT  (very large air tanker) is about to arrive at this fire.

Per I.C. Dollar Fire has been remapped and is at 55 acres.

UPDATE 7-Saturday, July 22, 4:15 p.m.

Per scanners “fire behavior has dropped off. Head of the fire is slow rate of spread. But they want to get the Strike team up there for structure protection (Fredalba area). Probability of success is pretty high right now. But, if it crosses Fredalba Creek, we may have to do evacuations.”

UPDATE 6-Saturday, July 22, 3:12 p.m.

The Dollar Fire is now at 100 acres. The I.C. has ordered the VLAT ( Very Large Air Tanker).

UPDATE 5-Saturday, July 22, 2:51 p.m.

Dollar Fire is now 55 acres. Hoselay around the left flank right flank is still making a run. Air attack is requesting 2 more helicopters to the fire

UPDATE 4-Saturday, July 22, 2:40 p.m.

Dollar Fire I.C. is ordering up 4 additional water tenders for a total of 8+.

UPDATE 3-Saturday, July 22, 2:29 p.m.

Dollar Fire I.C.  says fire is at 20 acres with no structure threats at this time.

Substantial resources on scene or enroute  including mutual aid resources from the Angeles National Forest, Redlands, Loma Linda, San Bernardino and a total of 6 air tankers and 3 helicopters.

UPDATE 2-Saturday, July 22, 2:25 p.m.

Dollar Fire is currently 15 acres still a potential for 100. The VLAT currently available. IC is considering bringing it in.

UPDATE 1-Saturday, JULY 22, 2:14 p.m.

The Dollar Fire is 5-10 acres with a moderate rate of spread. Ordering up additional water tenders, some 2nd alarm resources and aircraft from the Angelus National Forest.

Dollar Fire I.C. is ordering a divert of 2 air tankers from the Whitter Fire to this new fire.

Original Story

City Creek Ranger Station – Vegetation fire on Hwy 330 is being called the Dollar Fire. The fire is said to be 2-3 acres with moderate to rapid rate of speed. Law enforcement has been requested to evacuate the area.

Incident command post will be at Hwy 330 and 1N09 ( City Creek). Helicopter 534 is requesting a 2nd alarm. Incident Command is requesting 4 air tankers and 3 helicopters.
