A Week of Cycling In the Mountains

By Joseph Kelly

Big Bear Lake, CA – The Big Bear Cycling Festival rolls into town on Saturday, July 29th. It doesn’t stop rolling for a full week. The very popular cycling local welcomes cyclists from far and wide, again. Big Bear Valley offers trails, roads, and elevation changes that attract those looking for a challenge or beautiful scenery.

Multiple sponsors put on the event, showcasing the fabulous riding opportunities the area has to offer. Big Bear is not  just a place where folks come to cycle, it’s a home to many local riders. You can see the excitement of the cycling community by the number of volunteers at the various venues. Scores of people come out in organized support. The volunteers help with traffic control and directing the riders on the courses. Some set up aid stations, offering water, snacks, messages and sometimes a cool dipping pool.
