Per SBNF on twitter, more accurate mapping has determined the Mile Fires is at 76.4 acres and 15% contained.

Per SBNF on Twitter forward rate of spread has been stopped.
UPDATE 14 – July 31, 5:24 p.m.
Per Mile fire Ops. no growth on the fire at this time. All personnel are in stand down mode to take on fluids. Will be transporting a 10th injured fire fighter.
Per CHP CAD they hope to reopen Hwy 18 approximately 7:30 p.m.

All structure protection crews have been released.

Per air attack 12 releasing all fixed air resources.
A fifth fire fighter has been transported to a hospital and a sixth patient is awaiting a gound ambulance.

Per SBNF, Mile Fire is 100 acres and the forward rate of spread has slowed.

A fourth firefighter is down and 5 ambulances have been called in. Three ambulances went to the scene, one to the Incident Command Post and one to a nearby station.

Three firefighters are down with heat related-injuries and are being transported by ambulance.

Flames are slow backing, head of fire isn’t moving much, until it gets into heavier brush. Air attack is working the top of the line with retardant.
Calling for a full closure of Hwy 18.

San Bernardino county Fire is putting together several structure protection and gel task force strike teams.

Incident Commander is ordering up a strike team of engines for structure protection – calling them the Waterman structure group.
UPDATE 1 – July 31, 2:21 p.m.
Hwy 18 is now closed at the top at Hwy 138.
Mountain Communities – The Mile fire has begun in Waterman Canyon at Hwy 18. The fire is 70 to 100 acres at a rapid rate of spread. Hwy 18 closed at 40th street. Fire is burning up slope.
A second alarm is requested and aircraft is on order.
