Mountain Communities – Labor Day is a federal holiday, commemorating the economic and social contributions of workers. The first Monday of September — falling this year on September 4 — is now the date for Labor Day, which became a federal holiday in 30 states in 1894. It has since been made a statutory holiday by all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the territories.
LABOR DAY CLOSINGS
The Labor Day observance will impact several services in the mountain communities:
BANKS – Financial institutions will be closed.
CITY OF BIG BEAR LAKE – City offices will be closed.
COURTS – All San Bernardino County Courthouses will be closed.
MAIL DELIVERY – There will be no mail delivery on Labor Day.
TRANSPORTATION – Visit MARTA online for schedule details.
STATE/COUNTY OFFICES – State and county offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.
TRASH PICK-UP – Trash pick-up may be delayed one day. Check with your provider.
SCHOOLS – Bear Valley and Rim of the World Unified School District campuses will be closed. California State University San Bernardino will also be closed.
