A Day of Recognition For Those Who Keep Us Safe – Sept. 23rd

By Susan A. Neufeld

Running Springs, CA – Mountain Rim Fire Safe Council, in partnership with Senator Mike Morrell, are holding an Inaugural First Responder Day event at Snow Valley Mountain Resort ( 35100 State Hwy 18, Running Springs, CA), on Saturday, September 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free to the Community. Thanks to Kevin Somes, General Manager of Snow Valley, for making this possible.

Senate Resolution 40, authored by Senator Morrell and adopted by the State Senate, designates September 23, 2017, as First Responder Day in California. “California is prone to earthquakes, wildfires, flooding and other disasters that all require active preparation and response efforts”, said Senator Morrell.

Planned activities include opportunities for kids to explore firetrucks, ambulances and police vehicles. While meeting first responders, there will also be demonstrations, safety information and special visits by Smokey Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog. Food vendors will be onsite, as well.

Please  make time – even if it is just a few minutes –  to come by and show your appreciation and let’s show these brave men and women our gratitude and appreciation.
