Blue Jay, CA – Stroll through the unique shops in Blue Jay to view the beautiful quilts, during the Ninth Annual Blue Jay Quilt Walk on Saturday, September 30. The event is sponsored by the Willow Woods Quilt Guild and the Lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce, and is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This year’s theme is “In A Quilters Garden”.
Many of the quilts will be auctioned off to benefit Camp Paivika in Crestline, where adults and children with physical and developmental disabilities enjoy camping opportunities. Last year more than $15,000 was raised to benefit the camp.
The quilts scheduled for the auction may be viewed between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with the auction slated for 1 p.m.
Mountain Fifes & Drums will offer entertainment between 12:00 and 12:30 p.m., and there will be a featured quilter, opportunity drawings, a library book sale and more.
Camp Paivika was opened in 1947 and is one of the first fully-accessible camps in the United States.
Located in Crestline and surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest, the camp offers overnight summer and winter/spring programs for children and adults with mild to severe developmental and physical disabilities, such as autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and Down syndrome.
