Crestline, CA – The Lake Gregory Yacht Club (LGYC) was presented the 2017 Club of the Year award by the Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA). This is the fourth consecutive win for the members of LGYC. The award evaluation is made by a committee that considers and weighs fifteen categories. Examples include club programs to support regattas, junior participation, cruising charitable and civic activities, clean boating/water action and SCYA participation. The award was presented by 2017 SCYA Commodore Simon Dekker at the SCYA Officer Installation Dinner, on Saturday, January 13, at the Del Rey Yacht Club in Marina del Rey.
2017 LGYC Commodore Marsha Philippe commented “It’s exciting to receive this award for the fourth year. We know there are many fine yacht clubs providing competition and receiving this again was both unexpected and rewarding” Philippe said. She then continued “The members of LGYC should be justifiably proud of the club they have built and the community involvement they encourage”.
The Southern California Yachting Association is the umbrella organization of 95 yacht and boating clubs in Arizona, Southern California, and Nevada, providing support and promotion of amateur and recreational boating. Their website is http://www.SCYA.org.
The Lake Gregory Yacht Club exists to enable mountain families to share social and boating-related experiences. LGYC is primarily a social organization with philanthropic aspects.
