By Susan A. Neufeld

Big Bear, CA –  Big Bear has it’s sights on entering a float in the 2019 annual Tournament of Roses Parade. The Big Bear Rose Parade Association is a nonprofit organization, (501(c)(3) pending, focused on earning an entry into the parade. The application has been submitted, but it takes until  early spring before the Tournament of Roses directors notify the selected applicants.

In the meantime the Big Bear Rose Parade Association is raising money to build the float. “After the Bloom”, a mock Rose Parade fundraiser will be held February, 18 at 5  p.m., at the Convention Center at Big Bear Lake (42900 W. Big Bear Blvd., Big Bear Lake).

“After the Bloom” features Big Bear dignitaries, and some not so dignified dignitaries clowning around, funky floats, hobby horse equestrian units and klutzy marching bands. What would the “After the Bloom” mock rose parade be with out its princess court of faded beauties?

Gwen Stefani Edwards and Bob Euthanasiabanks  will be on hand as the featured commentators, and Larry Hufflepuff is the announcer on the parade route.

Lea Salongaboda (aka Kim Boda) makes a special appearance to sing the national anthem, and a stealth bomber flyover is in the works along, with a surprise celebrity guest.

Guests will be able to vote for their favorite floats and, of course, the Faded Rose Queen.

Anyone can enter a float into the event, or purchase a commercial that airs during the parade performed by a troupe of professional jesters.

Admission to ” After the Bloom” is $5 per person or $10 per family. Food and Beverages will be available, along with prizes and entertainment.
