Big Bear Lake, CA – The California Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Mom & Dad Project, are giving  Start Smart classes for new drivers or soon to be new drivers.

Start Smart is a class aimed at helping newly licensed – or soon to be licensed –  teenage drivers (15-19) become more aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California driver. Parents are encouraged to attend.

The CHP will give a 2 hour class to discuss topics such as distracted driving, excessive speed and collision avoidance techniques. March 22, 2018 at 6 p.m. (File photo)

Teen driving accident statistics are scary. Collisions are the leading cause of teen drivers at fault in 66 percent of those collisions.

The class is Thursday March 22, 2018 at 6 p.m. The classes will be at the Brenda Boss Family Resource Center, 41820 Garstin Drive, Big Bear Lake, adjacent to Bear Valley Community Hospital.
